Shop Like a Pro in Sevierville

When people say they’re going to Sevierville, especially locals, that usually means one thing – shopping. And around here, it’s good to be prepared for a Smoky Mountain shopping trip because the crowds, and the traffic, can be maddening for even the most experienced of retail warriors.

So, with that in mind, we here at Inside Sevierville have come up with a little checklist to make your Sevierville shopping experience that much more enjoyable and have you shopping like a pro. Now, lets get started.

  1. Bring a friend(s) with you. If you don’t have all day to shop, a friend, or more than one, can help you locate items faster, get you better deals on things like buy one get one , etc. Or, it can be another set of eyes to tell you whether or not those shoes or that shirt look good.
  2. Take in a few of shops you usually just pass by, like East Tennessee’s original outlet – Hammer’s. At Hammer’s, they’ve got department store quality clothing alongside bins of sample shoes. If you’re shopping for an upcoming vacation, stop by stores like TJ Maxx or Belk for national brand name clothing, home goods and beauty supplies.
  3. Many of the outlet malls and sometimes even the specialty stores will hold sales and shopping events, so timing can be key in finding great deals. This can save you a little more, but it can also mean you’ll have to deal with a larger crowd. If you prefer to shop when things aren’t so busy, mid-week is an ideal time to browse. Often there are fewer people in the stores, giving you more elbow room to find the best deals.
  4. Search for deals before you leave and stock up on coupons. Major outlets, like Sevierville’s Tanger Five Oaks Outlet Mall, offer online & mobile coupons (which are different and sometimes worth more) and weekly coupon specials through their Facebook page (www.facebook.com/tangeroutlet). Sign up in advance and save time while shopping.

Sevierville’s Lodge Cast Iron Outlet

If your Christmas list calls for frying pans of every shape and for every purpose, Sevierville’s Lodge Cast Iron Outlet might be one place you should visit this holiday season.

Joseph Lodge began Lodge Manufacturing in 1896 and today it is one of the oldest cookware companies in the country. The cast iron is produced in the Lodge foundry in South Pittsburg, Tennessee.

Lodge offers tours of the foundry during the National Cornbread Festival each spring.

Lodge produces a range of cast iron cookware and bakeware, including skillets, grills, kettles, griddles and dutch ovens. The year 2002 saw a development by Lodge for production of pre-seasoned iron cookware. You can also buy Lodge enamel-coated cast iron cookware.

Cast iron cooking has been a kitchen favorite with its even heating, great heat retention and flexibility to go outdoors on the grill or cook over an open fire. Golden Carat

How’s the old saying go? “It’s all in a name.” If that’s the case, then Sevierville’s Golden Carat is pretty well off. Actually, things are as good as gold at the Golden Carat and have been for almost 30 years just outside downtown Sevierville.

All these years the Golden Carat has been specializing in high end jewelry and has generations of clients to prove it. Shoppers stop by to peruse the bracelets, necklaces, and diamond engagement rings. And most tend to leave with a shopping bag marking the store’s name.

Education is also a part of the buying experience over at the Golden Carat. As far as diamonds go, guests are told to look at the “four C’s”: color, cut, clarity, and carat weight, before picking that perfect sparkler.

Diamond rings sold at Golden Carat can range anywhere from $200 to $45,000. Accordingly, weddings are up by about 25 percent based on the current trend of ring sales at Golden Carat.

In addition to remounting rings, Golden Carat offers a variety of other services to their customers such as estate purchases, precious metal purchases, same-day repairs and one-hour ring sizing.

Russell Stover Opens New Outlet in Kodak

Walking into the new Russell Stover Outlet in Kodak, it’s almost like unwrapping a brand new piece of candy and taking that first bite. It’s just that good. Their new digs just opened right across the road from their old ones and it’s pretty impressive. It’ll definitely catch your eye as you’re coming off Interstate 40 toward Sevierville.

In all, the new store totals 10,000 square feet of retail outlet space.  If you’re wondering what will happen with the old store across the street, don’t worry, it will operate as it has, just with a smaller offering. The new candy retail store will offer a much larger selection and additional items unavailable at the old location. Some of those additional offerings include such items as candy apples, homemade fudge, baked goods, Blue Bell ice cream and frozen custard.

Russell Stover Candies broke ground on their newest retail store last year and is officially open for business. The two Kodak stores are part of a nationwide chain that includes 39 Russell Stover retail locations across the country. The new Kodak location is one of three new stores just recently constructed.

“We are glad to be expanding our retail operations in the Sevier market,” said Trey Magruder, Director of Store Operations. “There is a lot of excitement in this market for our products and everyone here is appreciative of our presence.” Russell Stover is the largest producer of boxed chocolates in the United States.

Russell Stover has been making delicious chocolates and candy since 1923 when Russell and Clara Stover started selling candy from their home in Denver, Colorado. The original candy, marketed as “Mrs. Stover’s Bungalow Candies,” changed about 20 years later to Russell Stover Candies. Sevierville’s Hottest Shopping Destinations Offer After Thanksgiving Sales Aplenty!

If you’re looking for great deals, numerous Sevierville locations will be holding After Thanksgiving Day sales beginning as early as 12:01 am Friday morning.

Guests can not only come and tour the facility, Hillside offers a tasting room so that you’re sure to pick the wine you enjoy the most before making your purchase.

Just a short jaunt down the parkway is the Apple Barn Winery at 220 Apple Valley Rd. Their wine is made in small batch form, thus giving customers a most unique product with each bottle. The Apple Barn Winery loves it when visitors come by and sample their wines. They also feature a gift shop full of unique items as well as wine accessories. The Apple Barn Winery especially encourages visitors to stop when their Port or seasonal wines are available. These are the carefully crafted small batch wines that only appear on certain special occasions. The Apple Barn tasting room is always open, just have the staff advise you on what special wines are available.

Of course, we couldn’t leave out Pigeon Forge’s Mountain Valley Winery. Since 1991, Mountain Valley (2174 Parkway) has specialized in French and German style wines. Located near the Titanic Museum, the Mountain Valley Winery in Pigeon Forge is Tennessee’s largest winery. Come sample any of their award-winning wine, take a tour and learn how they make they wine. Mountain Valley Winery makes their wine from locally grown grapes. Want to see some grapes being crushed before the wine gets bottled?
